The heart of the Christian faith is the gospel - the “good news” of Jesus Christ. Paul declares in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, “Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.” This simple yet profound truth is the foundation of our hope.

The gospel begins with God’s holiness and humanity’s sin. We have all fallen short of His glory (Romans 3:23), and the penalty of sin is death (Romans 6:23). But God, in His great love, sent His Son Jesus to take our place. On the cross, Jesus bore the punishment we deserved, and through His resurrection, He defeated sin and death forever.

This message is not just information - it demands a response. To believe the gospel means to repent, turning from sin, and to trust Jesus as Saviour and Lord. When we do, we are forgiven, reconciled to God, and given the gift of eternal life.

As believers, we are called not only to treasure this message but to share it. The gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes. If you are not a believer then I encourage you to seriously consider the gospel message. We would love to talk with your further.

Self-control is not simply about willpower; it is evidence of the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives. Left to ourselves, we are easily swayed by impulses, temptations, and emotions. Yet in Christ, we are given the Spirit who empowers us to live differently - to say “no” to sin and “yes” to God’s will.

True self-control begins with surrender. When we submit our desires, appetites, and thoughts to the Lord, He strengthens us to walk in freedom rather than slavery to our flesh. This means controlling our words when anger rises, choosing purity when temptation calls, and practicing discipline in how we spend our time, money, and energy. Each act of Spirit-led self-control shapes us more into the image of Christ.

The world tells us to “follow your heart,” but God’s Word reminds us that the heart can be deceitful (Jeremiah 17:9). Instead, we are called to follow the Spirit, who leads us into life and holiness.

We must ask the Lord daily to help us yield our will to His. As we depend on His strength, we will discover that self-control is not a burden but a blessing, producing peace and victory.

Jesus warned His followers, “If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also” (John 15:20). For many of us, persecution may come in the form of ridicule, rejection, or being misunderstood for our faith. For others around the world, it may mean imprisonment or even death. Yet, Scripture reminds us that persecution is not a sign of God’s absence but of His presence.

When we suffer for Christ, we are sharing in His sufferings (Philippians 3:10). Far from being abandoned, we are drawing nearer to our Saviour, walking the very road He walked. Persecution becomes a refining fire that strengthens our faith, proving that our hope is not built on comfort but on Christ alone.

In Acts 5, the apostles rejoiced after being beaten because they were “counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.” What a radical perspective! Rather than despair, they saw persecution as confirmation that they belonged to Jesus.

Today, let us pray for courage to stand firm when opposition comes. Let us also lift up our brothers and sisters worldwide who endure persecution daily. And may we remember that the reward of faithfulness is eternal joy in the presence of Christ.

"See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come." — Song of Solomon 2:11-12

Spring reminds us that no season lasts forever. The cold barrenness of winter gives way to vibrant life - buds bloom, birds sing, and the air feels fresh with hope. In the same way, God promises renewal to our weary hearts.

Just as the earth awakens from its slumber, we too are called to rise from spiritual stagnation. Where there was dryness, God brings living water. Where we felt dormant, He breathes new life. Spring is nature’s way of proclaiming resurrection - and it echoes the greatest resurrection of all: Jesus Christ rising from the dead.

Let this season be a reminder that God is always doing a new thing (Isaiah 43:19). Maybe you've been walking through a spiritual winter - numb, quiet, or stuck. Take heart. God's grace is not limited by your circumstances. He is in the business of making all things new.
