"If you begin and finish your days with thoughts of gratitude, you'll find yourself living from a place of abundance rather than lack. Those first and final moments set the tone for the many minutes that fall in between." 

In the Bible we find numerous verses that encourage us to be grateful/thankful and to give thanks. In the New Testament alone thankfulness comes up 71 times and most of these instances are the word thankfulness or a related word. "Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you". Note the word ALL! From the moment we get up in the morning until the moment we go to sleep we are to be grateful. Lately when I've found myself in a situation or emotion or place I'd rather not be, instead of moaning I've tried to turn it around and give thanks to God for the good that will come out of it. That certainly changes your perspective J And don't we have so much to be grateful for?! 

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known to God." I trust this is an encouragement to you this week.

What is grace? We often refer to the acronym God's Riches At Christ's Expense. Grace is God's voluntary and loving favour given to those He saves. We can't earn salvation and we don't deserve it. No religious, intellectual or moral effort can gain it, because it comes only from God's mercy and love. Without God's grace, no person can be saved. To receive it, we must acknowledge that we cannot save ourselves, that only God can save us and that the only way to receive this loving favour is through faith in Christ. 

We also need to have grace as believers for one another. Grace to accept that none of us are perfect. Grace to accept that we will all make mistakes that we need to learn from. Grace to admit when we are wrong. Grace to continue to ask God for help to be the people He is calling us to be. Grace is such a precious gift - given by the One who loves us so much He gave His one and only Son.

I know many of us are praying for our unsaved family and friends and for those we know that have walked away from their faith. If it grieves our heart, how much more must it grieve the heart of God. 

But I was reminded today, again, through the words of a song that someone sent me, that our God is greater. He is stronger. He's the God of the possible. He is faithful to keep. What do we do when we feel so broken over these lives? The answer is simple. We keep praying. We pray for healing. We pray for miracles in their lives. We pray that they will come alive in Jesus name. We pray for restoration of faith. We pray that breakthrough by the power of the Holy Spirit would happen in their lives. We pray God's Word over their lives. And we don't give up. Ever. 

I'm so grateful to be part of a church family who first and foremostly pray in the above way. You encourage me. You bring unity. And together, in Jesus Name, the battle will be won. Praise God!

"There is one body," says Paul. Unity does not just happen; we have to work at it. Often differences among people can lead to division, but this should not be true in the church (sadly we see it too often). Instead of concentrating on what divides us, we should remember what unites us: one Body - the fellowship of believers, the Church; one Spirit - the Holy Spirit who activates and leads the fellowship; one Hope - the glorious future to which we are all called; one Lord - Christ, to who we all belong; one Faith - our singular commitment to Christ; one Baptism - our public confession of faith and one God - who is our Father who keeps us to eternity.

As a Body, we learn to appreciate people who are different from us. We see how their differing gifts and viewpoints can help the church as it carries out the task God has called us to do. I'm not talking about differing theology - there is no compromise there, however as we grow in understanding of one another we will discover the amazing qualities God has gifted the church that will complement one another and see His Kingdom grow.
