This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it! (Psalm 118:24). It doesn't say tomorrow, and it doesn't say yesterday.....this is the day. 

Though change can be challenging and transition tiring, we are to rejoice and be glad in it. So often we can pray for it to end, or for things to return to what we once knew...remember the good 'ole days! But life keeps moving. For those of us who love and follow Jesus, we're always growing in maturity towards a heart like His. It is a wonderful thing, but the everyday reality of growth can sometimes push us out of our comfort zone. 

"Rejoice" in the original Hebrew means to rejoice, exult, be glad and also to tremble in fear. We can be fearful or uncomfortable without losing our joy. When we rejoice in the Lord, knowing our joy is rooted in Jesus, we are glad. It reminds us that He's got us... He has a plan, a purpose, is sovereign overall and loves us more than we can ever imagine.

As we finished our study on the book of Daniel at our Women’s Life Group we were left with such an encouragement. The final verse reads “But you, go your way till the end; for you shall rest, and will arise to your inheritance at the end of the day.” The promise of the resurrection was reaffirmed to Daniel. The same promise is affirmed to those of us today who call Jesus our Lord and Saviour!

Daniel would one day see the fulfilment of his words, but he was not to spend the rest of his life wondering what his visions might mean. Instead, he was to rest in the comfort of God’s sovereignty and look forward to the time when he would rise to receive and share eternal life with God. God does not reveal everything to us in this life. We need to learn to be content with the partial picture until He wants us to see more. He does and will continue to tell us all we need to know for the current moment.

Let us continue to serve the Lord with all our heart and soul and mind until that glorious day when we rise to be with Him forever in eternity.

It was hard to know which aspect of Easter to focus on in the newsletter this week. The Easter story encompasses so much - everything really - of the true meaning of what it means to be a follower of Jesus. So let's look at Jesus' last meal with His disciples. I imagine they were in a dark room in a small space using quiet voices and quite confused about what was happening. Jesus had been predicting His death and is speaking about betrayal and going away. Scripture also says that Jesus was deeply troubled so there would have been an intensity in the atmosphere. These moments in the Upper Room were precious ones between Jesus and His friends. Although there was confusion there was also the bond between them of living and travelling together, of listening and learning and of loving one another. One even leant against Jesus as He spoke. 

Do we ourselves have moments of intimacy with Jesus - the One who gave His life for us and offers Himself to us as our Lord and Saviour. This Easter may one of our prayers be "Lord Jesus, draw me closer to You. Help me to live as your beloved disciple".

How good is it to gather again all together in one building?! I know church is not about the building. It is about people and to worship our Heavenly Father together as one 'body' seems so important and brings such encouragement. Thank you for your patience during this time....and let's make the most of it while we are able for we don't know what lies ahead.

I am reminded of the scripture in Hebrews 10:25 - "....not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching." We gather together to share our faith and to strengthen one another in the Lord. As we get closer to the 'Day' when Christ will return, we will face many spiritual struggles, and even times of persecution. As these things increase it will be even more important to make the effort to meet together. When we gather we are encouraged AND we encourage others. Let us today enjoy, celebrate and worship our God together as one.
