Children are precious to the heart of God, and this week has been a beautiful reminder of that truth. As Jesus welcomed children and declared that the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these, we have seen that same heart reflected in our church family through our Kids’ Holiday Programme.

We want to give thanks for every person who served - those who led, organised, prayed, cooked, cleaned, played games, told stories, and simply showed up with love and joy. Your willingness to invest time and energy into the lives of our children has eternal significance. You have created a space where they are not only cared for, but where they can encounter the love of Christ in real and meaningful ways and hear the Gospel proclaimed clearly.

As a church family, we share the privilege and responsibility of nurturing these young lives. Through your faithfulness this week, seeds have been planted - seeds of truth, belonging, and faith that God will continue to grow. May we never underestimate the impact of what has been sown. Thank you for serving so generously, and for reflecting the heart of Jesus to our children. What a gift it is to be part of a community that treasures them so deeply.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the heartbeat of Easter and the foundation of our hope. When the stone was rolled away and the tomb was found empty, it wasn’t just a miraculous moment - it was a decisive victory. Death was defeated, sin was conquered, and a new way to life was opened for all who believe.

In rising from the grave, Jesus proved that His words were true. Every promise, every claim, every declaration of love was confirmed in that single, glorious act. The resurrection reminds us that even when everything seems lost, God is still at work. What looked like the end on Good Friday became the beginning of eternal hope on Easter Sunday.

For us today, the resurrection means that we are not bound by our past, our failures, or our fears. The same power that raised Christ from the dead is at work in us - bringing renewal, restoration, and new life. We are invited to live as resurrection people: full of hope, grounded in truth, and confident in God’s promises. This Easter, let’s take a moment to reflect on the empty tomb. It declares that nothing is impossible for God. Because He lives we can face tomorrow with courage, joy, and unshakable faith.

Jesus’ words about new wineskins (Luke 5:36 - 39) remind us that God is always doing something fresh, something life-giving, something that cannot be contained by old patterns. New wine represents the living work of the Holy Spirit - dynamic, expanding, and full of power. But new wine requires new wineskins. Old ones, stretched and rigid, simply cannot hold what God is pouring out.

How often do we try to fit God’s new work into our old habits, expectations, or comfort zones? We ask Him to move, yet resist the change that comes with it. We long for renewal, yet cling to what feels safe and familiar. But Jesus invites us into something deeper - a willingness to be made new so we can receive what He is doing.

Becoming a “new wineskin” means surrender. It means allowing God to reshape our hearts, renew our minds, and soften what has grown hard. It may feel stretching at times, even uncomfortable, but it is always for greater capacity - to hold more of His presence, His joy, and His purpose.

Today, let’s ask the Lord: “Where are You making things new in me?” and then trust Him enough to let go of the old. Because when we do, we make room for His new wine to flow freely in and through our lives.

Honouring one another is a quiet but powerful expression of Christ’s love at work within us. In Romans 12:10, we are urged to “be devoted to one another in love” and to “honour one another above yourselves.” This kind of honour is not about flattery or outward politeness - it is about genuinely valuing others as image-bearers of God.

Jesus modelled this perfectly. He honoured the overlooked, the broken, and even those who would fail Him. He washed His disciples’ feet, demonstrating that honour often looks like humility and service. When we choose to honour others, we lay down pride and self-interest, making space for grace, patience, and kindness to grow.

Honouring one another means listening before speaking, encouraging instead of criticising, and choosing unity over division. It is a daily decision to see people not for their flaws, but for their worth in God’s eyes.

In a world that often elevates self-promotion, the Christian call is different. We are invited to lift others up. As we do, we reflect the heart of Christ and build a community marked by love.
