Patience is not just about waiting - it’s about how we wait. In a world of instant gratification, God's call to patience is a countercultural act of trust. Throughout Scripture, we see that patience is a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22), something God cultivates in us as we walk with Him.

Abraham waited decades for the promise of a son. Joseph endured years of unjust suffering before rising to a position of influence. Even Jesus, in His earthly life, patiently endured rejection, hardship, and ultimately the cross, trusting in the Father’s perfect timing.

When we are patient, we declare with our lives that God is in control and His timing is best. It’s in the waiting that our faith grows, our character is refined, and our dependence on God deepens. There are times in our life that we need to trust that God is working behind the scenes. His promises are sure, and His timing is perfect.

It is in these times that we must wait well, wait prayerfully and wait with hope. It is in that waiting, that we allow God to shape us more into the image of Christ.

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8

The cross of Jesus stands at the centre of our faith - not as a symbol of defeat, but of victory. It is at the cross that love met justice and where mercy triumphed over judgment. Though innocent, Jesus bore the weight of our sin, willingly sacrificing Himself so that we might be reconciled to God.

When we look at the cross, we are reminded of how far God was willing to go to bring us back to Him. It wasn’t nails that held Jesus there - it was love. A love that sees us in our sinfulness and still calls us redeemed. In moments of guilt, doubt, or weakness, the cross reminds us that our salvation doesn’t rest on our perfection, but on Christ’s finished work. His blood cleanses us, His grace sustains us, and His resurrection assures us that death no longer has the final word.

Today, let us pause and reflect on the cross and let gratitude rise in our hearts.  The truth is -  we are deeply loved, eternally forgiven, and forever changed because of Jesus.

In Romans 12, Paul reminds us that though we are many, we form one body in Christ, and each member belongs to all the others. God has given each believer spiritual gifts - not for self-promotion, but to build up the Church and serve others in love.

Verses 6 - 8 list a variety of gifts: prophesying, serving, teaching, encouraging, giving, leading, and showing mercy. These gifts are different, yet all are vital. Just as the eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you,” no believer should think their gift is insignificant. EVERY role is important in the body of Christ.

Are you using the gift God has given you? Perhaps you are gifted in mercy but haven’t yet stepped forward. Maybe you’re called to give generously, encourage the weary, or lead with diligence. Don’t bury your gift - offer it freely and with joy.

Let's not compare ourselves with others, but instead, seek to faithfully steward what God has entrusted to us. When we serve with our gifts in love and humility the Church grows stronger and God is glorified. If you're unsure of your gifts we're happy to help you discover them. Just ask!

On Wednesday July 16th we have our monthly day of prayer and fasting. The focus this month is for Pastor Leonid, his family, church & ministry, and for the war to cease. He has specifically given us the following prayer points:

My dear friends, I have been on the road these days, travelling, ministering to the wounded, the displaced, and I have only found a little connection and that is a hundred kilometres away from home. Thank you for praying. We rescued 22 wounded people. We evacuated them, gave them first aid and sent them by evacuation train away from the front line. Here are some prayer requests. We live and serve only through your prayers and support.

1. Lord, give us physical and spiritual strength to serve people. 

2. Lord, protect us and watch over us. 

3. Lord, we’re very much in need of the Word in the power of preaching to unbelievers, there are so many of them. 

4. Lord, I want to be a pastor who bears Your image.

Though we may be far away, we are not powerless. Through prayer and fasting, we stand in the gap - interceding for their protection, provision, and courage. Fasting helps us share in their burden, aligning our hearts with God's compassion. As we pray, we are asking God to move powerfully on their behalf. Let us not grow weary, but remain faithful, trusting that God hears and responds.
