Some of us may hesitate to witness about our faith in Christ because we don't feel the change in our lives has been spectacular enough. We may think that growing up in a Christian home or living an unspectacular life means our testimony won't be as powerful.  But we qualify as a witness for Jesus because of what He has done for us, not because of what we have done for Him.

Christ demonstrated His great love by setting us free from our sins through His death on the cross, guaranteeing us a place in His Kingdom and making us priests to administer God's love to others. The fact that the all-powerful God has offered eternal life to us is nothing short of spectacular and well worth testifying about!

Easter is a season of great gladness for those who know Christ. But for those who are without “the light of the knowledge of God’s glory” (2 Corinthians 4:6), there is nothing to rejoice over.

Jesus left us with the great hope and certainty that He is going to return to bring a new Heaven and a new earth where, we are told, there will be no more sorrow, trouble, or death for those who have believed and followed Him. However there will be trouble, sorrow, and suffering for those who have neglected or rejected Him.

As Christians, our great task is to obey the command to tell the whole world about Christ crucified, buried, yet risen again. This season of the year, when we reflect on our Saviour’s great sacrifice for us on the cross, we can be filled with great peace and hope, because “He is risen!” That is the Good News.

The Israelites spent 40 years on a journey that should have lasted 11 days. It wasn't distance that stood between them and the Promised Land. It was the condition of their hearts. God's purpose went deeper than simply transporting a huge group of people to a new land. He was preparing them to live in obedience to Him once they arrived. The journey was a painful but necessary part of their preparation. Through it, God taught the Israelites who He was - the Living God, the Leader of their nation. He also taught them who they were - people who were fallen, sinful and prone to rebellion and doubt. 

Our own spiritual journey may be lengthy and we may face discouragement, pain and difficulties along the way, but remember that God isn't just trying to keep us alive! He wants to prepare us to live in service and devotion to Him and Him alone.

The early Church was committed to reaching the lost for Christ. We also must exhibit this commitment. It is only through Jesus Christ that we can be forgiven, saved by grace, and receive the promise of eternal life. For many people it doesn’t make any difference what you believe as long as you believe in something. But Acts 4:12 says “Salvation is found in no-one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”

I read this story this week and was moved by the perspective D L Moody had on the world around him.

While speaking in London, evangelist D. L. Moody was approached by a British companion who wanted to know the secret of Moody’s success in leading people to Christ. Moody directed the man to his hotel window and asked, “What do you see?” The man looked down on the square and reported a view of crowded streets. Moody suggested he look again. This time, the man mentioned seeing people–men, women, and children. Moody then directed him to look a third time, and the man became frustrated that he was not seeing what Moody wanted him to see. The great evangelist came to the window with watery eyes and said, “I see people going to hell without Jesus. Until you see people like that, you will not lead them to Christ.”
