Today I’d like to look at the term “Five-fold ministry” which has been coined from Ephesians. In understanding the roles of five specific gifts in equipping the church, it seems to be a direction the Lord is leading us to consider. Along with the twin themes of love and humility that we constantly hearing of late, allowing the influence of the Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors & Teachers is crucial.I’d also encourage you to be part of the life groups listed in the middle of the newsletter. I had been thinking I’d be speaking on the calling of the disciples in Mark 3, leading on from the purpose of the church being “Making Disciples.” However I was surprised at my reading in Malachi 1 where God calls out for us to honour Him. He had done all He could for the nation of Israel to see this, yet they did not. I’d like to look at this today.The Earthquake Response fund has given us money for a variety of things, thanks to that & generous givers we are most of the way to fund new chairs. It’s great to have you here, so please stay for a coffee after the service.So, 2011 is underway, and you’re here reading this newsletter. Why? Why come here? If in doubt the bottom of the page states our mission, and today I’d like to take the chance near the start of the year to re-affirm the mission we have as a church and one we cannot depart from. If you are a believer, someone must have taken the first step to introduce you to Christ. What could my step be for others? If you are not, what is church all about?
