What an incredible truth – that through Christ, we are not just servants or followers, but sons and daughters of the living God. This identity is not something we earn - it is a gift given by grace through faith in Jesus. God, in His great love, adopts us into His family, giving us full rights as His children.

As children of God, we are deeply loved, fully accepted, and eternally secure. We no longer live under fear or striving for approval. Our Father delights in us, walks with us, and disciplines us in love so we might grow to reflect His character. This relationship changes everything - it reshapes how we view ourselves and how we live.

Being God’s child also means we have a purpose. We are called to represent our Father in the world, living in love, truth, and holiness. Our actions, words, and attitudes become a reflection of the One who adopted us.

Today, let this truth sink in – we are a child of God - loved, chosen, and cherished. Let’s walk in that identity with confidence, joy, and gratitude.

It is so important that we understand the purpose of God’s law.  Many today say it is no longer relevant, but Psalm 19:7 says “The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul……”.  God’s law is not a burden - it is a gift of grace. Psalm 19:7 reminds us that His law is perfect, and one of its greatest works is to convert the soul. The word “convert” here means to turn, to bring back, to restore. Before grace can restore us, the law must first convict us.

God’s commandments expose the truth about our hearts. Like a mirror, His Word reveals where we fall short - not to shame us, but to lead us to repentance and life. Without conviction, we would never see our need for a Saviour. Paul echoes this in Romans 7:7: “I would not have known sin except through the law.”

Conviction is a mercy. It is the Spirit’s way of drawing us away from sin and into the arms of our forgiving God. The law shows us our guilt - the gospel shows us grace. Together, they lead us to wholeness.

Let us not resist the conviction that comes through God’s Word. Let it do its work - revealing sin, humbling our heart, and leading us back to our God who redeems.

Christian character isn’t something we inherit - it’s something we cultivate. The Apostle Paul reminds us to “put on” virtues like compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. These qualities don’t come naturally - they are the fruit of a life surrendered to Christ and shaped by the Holy Spirit.

Jesus modelled perfect character - serving others, forgiving freely, and loving sacrificially. He washed His disciples’ feet and bore the cross for our sake. When we imitate Him, our lives become a witness to the world of God’s transforming grace.

In a world that prizes self-promotion and quick judgment, Christian character calls us to a different path - one of quiet strength, integrity, and love. It’s not about perfection but about daily choosing to reflect Christ in our words and actions.

As we grow in faith, let us ask the Holy Spirit to renew us daily. May our church family be known not just for what we believe, but for how we live - clothed in Christ and shining His light wherever we are.

In a world marked by uncertainty and suffering, some question the goodness of God. But Scripture reminds us over and over that God is not just good - He is the very source of goodness itself - “The Lord is good to all; He has compassion on all He has made.” - Psalm 145:9

God’s nature is unchanging, and His love is steadfast. Every breath we take, every sunrise we watch, and every act of mercy we receive is evidence of His kindness.

God’s goodness is not reserved for perfect moments or perfect people. It flows freely, even in our brokenness. In Romans 8:28, we are assured that God works all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. This doesn’t mean every situation will feel good, but that God can redeem every circumstance for His glory and our growth.

When we fix our eyes on Jesus - the ultimate display of God’s goodness - we see a Saviour who meets us where we are and offers grace instead of judgment and hope instead of despair. Let this truth speak to us today.
