In the change of seasons, springtime brings longer days and shorter nights. So, in a sense, as we move from winter into spring and summer, we leave behind days of darkness as each day brings more light. The apostle Paul often uses the image of light and dark to talk about our spiritual condition. The point here is that we are not only delivered out of something but are also brought into something as well.
As followers of Jesus, we are transferred into the Kingdom of light. We “share in the inheritance of His holy people in the Kingdom of light.” Light often symbolises glory, truth, holiness, and life. It has to do with the authority and sovereign rule of the King. Because of Christ’s work to save us from sin, we are no longer in the dominion of darkness. We are freed to live fully in the precious, grace-filled, compassionate, and loving rule of Christ.
As we go about each of our days let’s then share that light with others!

We often hear people talking about living a godly life. What is a godly life, and how is it achieved? These are important questions because as believers, we are called to live lives that are fully surrendered to Christ. Although we know that this is God’s will for us and that He’s working toward this purpose in our lives, we have a responsibility in the process as well.
What we do as a habit has tremendous influence on whether we will have a godly life. I was reading the other day that there are seven habits that will help us in our pursuit of godly living. I’m sure it will come as no surprise to any of us but it is good to be reminded of what these habits are – a life of prayer, having faith (trusting in God), reading and reflecting on the Word of God, obedience, dependence on the Holy Spirit, giving to God and others and forgiving other people.
My encouragement to myself and each of us is what small steps can we make today to grow in any or all of these godly habits. It doesn’t have to be big but one small change can make a big difference. Let’s spend some time in prayer this week hearing from God about what it might be for each of us

Charles Spurgeon said, "A man's life is always more forcible than his speech. When men take stock of him they reckon his deeds as dollars and his words as pennies." I take from this that the actions of our lives need to reflect the message we are sharing. When we fail to live as we should, people won't listen to us like they could!
It is very clear in the Bible how we are called to live out our Christian lives. I heard it once said how ridiculous it would have been if when the shepherds came to visit Jesus in the manger that Mary and Joseph were complaining about the raw deal they had been given :-)
Everything about our lives - our speech, our responses and our relationships either backs up or discredits the message of the gospel. We know that the central message of the Bible is that Jesus came to save us from our sins and as Nic spoke last week, we have been commissioned to actively share this message. However if our lives are not what they should be, we will certainly not be as effective in seeing people come to the Lord as we could be. Let's live in such a way that our conduct matches and strengthens our witness to others.

For many of us the discipline of waiting isn’t one of our strong suits. We’re more of a “let’s get it done NOW” kind of person. But being able to wait and learning how to wait is extremely important to God. We live in a culture where we need something, we want something and we want it now! So often our reaction is to become impatient. Impatience leads to grumbling. Grumbling feeds our bad attitude. Our bad attitude clouds our judgement. We make rash decisions. We do stupid things. We damage relationships. The alternative is knowing that there is great value in God’s eyes in waiting patiently.
Lamentations 3:25,26 The Lord is good to those who wait for him. He is good to those who look for him. It is good to wait quietly for the Lord to save them.
So for God, it’s not just that we wait. It’s about how we wait. Do we wait with a bad attitude or do we wait for God? Are we looking out expectantly for Him to show up or are we putting our trust in worldly things? Are we waiting quietly for the Lord to save us … or are we running around behaving badly? When we have to wait, how do we wait? ..It is good to wait quietly for the Lord to save you.
