The world fears the power of the atom, yet we belong to the God of the universe who not only created that atomic power but also raised Jesus Christ from the dead. God's incomparably great power is available to help us. There is nothing too difficult for Him. Having been raised from the dead, Christ is now the head of the church, the ultimate authority over the world. Jesus is the Messiah, God's Anointed One, the One Israel longed for, the One who would set their broken world right. As Christians we can be confident that God has won the final victory and is in control of everything. We need not fear any dictator or nation, or even death or satan himself. The contract has been signed and sealed; we are waiting just a short while for delivery! As Paul says in Romans, nothing can separate us from God and His abundant love.

What do you do when you encounter a problem? The Israelites became pretty good at complaining when they had problems! 

Some problems can be solved by careful thought or by rearranging our priorities. Some can be solved by talking with others and getting advice and wise counsel, but some problems can only be solved by prayer. We should make a determined effort to pray when we feel like complaining because when we complain it only raises our level of stress and nothing good is achieved by it. Prayer on the other hand quiets our thoughts and emotions and prepares us to listen. It is in this space that God can speak to us and the Holy Spirit can lead us to the right solution or give us the answer to our problems.

The "joy of the Lord" (found in Neh 8:10) is a phrase we often hear but what does it really mean? Do you ever feel like your strength is running out? Do you wonder how you're going to get through the day let alone the days ahead? When we feel sorrow, whether it's because of our realisation of sin or because it's due to difficult circumstances we're facing, we often wonder where our strength will come from. But it's vital that we know and understand that the joy of the Lord is our strength. 

We cannot conjure up this joy within ourselves or by our own power. It has to come from one source only and that is the Lord. That sure is a relief! It's not our human joy, but God's!

As Christians we have access to boundless joy,  joy that does not come from within ourselves or our circumstances. It also doesn't depend on how strong or spiritual we are. This joy comes from God alone and the relationship we have with Him. Changing our lives and following God's way will give us a far greater joy than we can ever gain on our own. When we study and know the truth within the pages of the Bible, we will grow deeper and deeper with the joy of the Lord and it WILL be our strength!

As we read in Corinthians we, like Paul, are simple human beings who do not fight against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces of darkness and evil. We must always remember that we do not win these battles through human plans and methods. God's mighty weapons are available to us as we fight against satan's "strongholds". We must choose whose methods to use - God's or the world's.

Paul assures us that God's mighty weapons of prayer, faith, hope, love, God's Word, and the Holy Spirit are powerful and effective. These weapons can break down the proud human arguments against God and the walls that satan builds to keep people from finding God. When dealing with the pride that keeps people from a relationship with Christ, we may be tempted to use our own methods. But nothing can break down these barriers like God's weapons. Everyday we must clothe ourselves with the Armour of God and be ready to use these weapons in every situation.
