It’s great to have you here and we would love to invite you to stay after the service and join us for tea and coffee.Churches come in all styles and shapes across the world - from secret meetings in homes; wide open gatherings in amphitheatres; worship services packing thousands into a building through to much smaller groups meeting in cafes or medium sized groups in halls of all sizes. Buildings will vary, but the church is not confined to four walls. The church of Jesus Christ is people, His people, of every race and nation who love Jesus and are committed to serving Him.I thank God for believers across the world, many of who meet as a church at great risk to their lives. I thank God for our church family here at Beckenham. I thank Him for the diversity and unity we have in His family and for the love and support we have for one another. I give thanks that we can meet in freedom. It is so important to be a part of a church family that can encourage, support, sharpen and love one another on our journey together. We're not meant to do this on our own. I love the culture we have here of looking out for one another. So can I encourage you to continue to pray for all believers across the world but also to think about who you might encourage in our church family in the week ahead.With love & blessings,Sandra

Everyone wants to be happy - many of us make it a life long pursuit! Some spend money on things, collect stuff or search for new experiences. But if happiness depends on our circumstances what happens when the money runs out, the stuff wears out or the experience eludes us?In contrast to happiness is joy. Joy runs much deeper and much stronger than happiness. Joy is the quiet , confident assurance of God's love and work in our lives - that He will be there no matter what. Happiness depends on happenings but joy depends on Christ. What are you focusing on today - happiness.... or joy? What is the book that when you really need to hear from God you turn to without thinking? For me, it's the book of Psalms.The book of Psalms is at the centre of the Bible. This great collection of songs and prayers expresses the heart and soul of humanity. In them we find the whole range of human experiences expressed. David and other writers honestly pour out their true feelings, reflecting a powerful and life-changing friendship with God. They confess their sins, express their doubts and fears, ask God for help in times of trouble, and praise and worship Him.Because of the honesty expressed by these writers, people throughout history have come again and again for comfort in times of struggle, to rise from depths of despair and to find joy and praise as they discover the power of God's love and forgiveness.This is why I love the book of Psalms :-)With love & blessings,Sandra
