If this is your first time at BBC we especially welcome you.I've been thinking about heroes this week. Who is your hero? And before you answer Superman or Wonder Woman I don't mean of the comic book type! I mean who is your spiritual hero?Of course the obvious answer is Jesus! But who is that person you know or have known that follows Jesus passionately and with integrity? Who is that person that exhibits the Fruit of the Spirit in their life and carries the presence of God? Who is that person who loves the Word of God and is passionate about living it out in their life? Who is that person you know who is a pray-er that will pray for you and pray for your family? It is good to have these people in our lives, and it is good to be that person for others.....have you thought of that? We too can be someone else's spiritual hero if we allow God to shape our life to be that passionate follower of Jesus who lives a life of faith with integrity, who loves the Word of God and who prays for others. If this is your first time at BBC we especially welcome you.This week I read in Romans 14:17 - ‘for the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.’. Sometimes in the midst of life’s circumstances it is hard to find peace and joy. But I believe that if these qualities are rooted deep in our heart then we will keep travelling the journey through difficult times. Peace and joy cannot be gained by ‘obtaining things’ or ‘doing things’ or ‘seeing things’. That kind of peace and joy only lasts for a while. Only by the infilling of the Holy Spirit can we have deep seated peace and joy that never leaves us despite what we are experiencing. This requires us to first ask God to be filled with His Spirit and then to daily be talking with Him to be lead, fed, encouraged and nurtured by His Spirit which He gave us when Jesus went to be with His Father in Heaven.Let’s make that our daily prayer.With love & blessings, Sandra

If this is your first time at BBC we especially welcome you.In every situation there are things to be thankful to God for. We just have to decide whether we are going to be thankful or not! It’s easy to look at what’s not going right - often based on our feelings. We need to discipline ourselves to look for the good in things and to speak these out - in the tongue is life and death! We need to give thanks to God ‘in every circumstance’. We need to be encouragers of one another, looking for the good in one another and speaking it into each others lives so we build each other up. The media is rife with negativity and criticism of others (particularly at the moment!). We are called to be different, to be the light in the darkness. Let’s think about who we can encourage today and give thanks to God for them.Next weekend we are away on our annual church camp at Glenroy. There will be no newsletter or Sunday service next weekend (Oct 1st) and I look forward to seeing many of you out at camp instead.With love & blessings, Sandra
